[dreaming of] summer cocktails

I want to start organizing my blog a little bit better,
and I'm going to start with a [dreaming of] feature.
This feature will highlight things that I'm excited for in the future
and any little spin on that :)

This week's [dreaming of] feature is all about summer cocktails!
I'm turning 21 this Monday, June 20th
so all I can think of is the unlimited amount of summer drink options I'll be able to try
starting Monday and on to the rest of my years at restaurants & bars across the world.

Here are some delicious beverages that are perfect for summer
and that you can make at home:
Enjoy!
 Cucumber Ginger Fizzes
1 1/2 cups vodka
2 English cucumbers; 1 peeled and coarsely copped, 1 left whole
1 lime, cut into 8 wedges
2 bottles (750 mL each) sparkling water
1/2 to 1 cup Ginger Simple Syrup
Put vodka and chopped cucumber in a container.
Refrigerate 1 hour. Strain; discard cucumber.
Regfrigerate, covered, for up to 2 days.
Using a vegetable peeler, shave the remaining cucumber lengthwise
into wide strips, discarding the seeds.
Fill 8 tumblers with ice. Add 3 cucumber strips & 3 tablespoons infused vodka.
Squeeze, then drop a lime wedge into each glass.
Top with sparkling water; stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons syrup.
 Peach Margaritas with Peach Wedges
3 ripe peaches, plus 2 more for garnish
3 tablespoons orange liquer
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon coarse salt
3/4 cup silver tequila
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 cups bottled peach nectar
8 mint sprigs for garnish
Cook 3 peaches in boiling water for 1 minutes.
Transfer into an ice-water bath to cool & remove peaches.
Peel and halve peaches, remove pits, and slice into wedges.
Toss with orange liqueur, sugar, and salt in a medium bowl. Cover,
and set in a warm spot for about 20 minutes.
Puree peach mixture in a blender until smooth.
Stir in tequila and lemon juice.
Transfer into a pitcher, and stir in peach nectar.
Fill 8 tall glasses with ice, garnish with a mint sprig.
Use the 2 remaining peaches to cut wedges for each glass.
Pour & enjoy.
 Lemon Drops on the Rocks
3 cups vodka
2 1/4 cups fresh lemon juice (from 10-12 lemons)
1/2 cup plus 3 tablespoons superfine sugar
Ice, for serving
Thin lemon slices, halved, for garnish
Combine vodka, lemon juice, and sugar, stirring occasionally
until sugar dissolves.
Transfer to a pitcher, add lemon slices, and serve.
Watermelon Punch
3 cups seeded watermelon, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
1 1/2 cups white vermouth (or any alcohol of your choice--mine's vodka!)
1 1/2 tablespoons superfine sugar
3 cups crushed ice
Place watermelon, vermouth, and sugar in a blender;
process until watermelon has been liquefied--about 10 seconds.
Add ice; process 3 seconds more.
Serve in a chilled glass.

our night at the MTV Movie Awards

Yesterday, Brooke and I got the lovely opportunity
to attend the
:)
like idiots we didn't bring our phones or cameras...
so this is sent from a lovely man that sat next to us :)
We had an amazing time and were lucky enough
to be second row from where most of the presenters presented.
We were literally no more than 10 feet from these amazing people:
I had the time of my life.
So thank you Brooke for working at LA Models this summer,
because without you, we would have never made it to the awards!

Oh...and I'm pretty sure Josh Duhamel smiled at me :)
Like 99% positive, which made my night and year...obviously.

long time no see

I haven't blogged since May 4th...
that's almost a month.
This post should be the start of set of consistent new posts :)

Brooke and I have been super busy.
We've now been LA summer residents for two weeks
and we're having the best time ever.
My internship at Bollare is going very well,
and I've even made a new friend out of it!
So far I really like the fashion PR world...so who knows?
Maybe I'll make it into a career!

The past two weeks have been filled with exploring,
going out to eat, going out, visiting friends at UCLA,
visiting the valley, beach days, & other festivities.
Here's a little look at what we've been up to & more pictures are coming soon!!
beecher's madhouse with chanel & brooke
malibu memorial day party with Jaime & Brooke's coworkers :)
arizona reunion in redondo beach! :)
Thanks for reading and still following me
even though I fell of the face of the earth.
I really appreciate it :)
And I really am going to try to get better at blogging consistently,
especially now that we have internet in our apartment!

home sweet home

The past 36 hours have been ridiculous.
I've never had so many phone calls,
so much stress,
and so many problems with friends.
I won't get into everything because it's trivial,
but I can say now that I know who my true friends are
and I hope I haven't lost my other great ones.
Luckily last night,
Nick invited me, Brooke, and Paige over to his place where the boys
made us a delicious grilled feast.
It's definitely what we all needed...just a night to relax & eat.

And today, the good news continued!
Brooke and I secured our apartment for summer in West Hollywood!
It's less than a mile away from our internships
and we'll have a patio that opens right out to the pool.
I'm so so so excited!
It hit me today how much I'm really going to miss Nicholas,
but he's going to visit a lot and I'm sure I'll be out in Arizona a lot too.

With all bad things come great things,
you just have to deal with the ebb and flow of how the world works.
Here's some inspiration for our studio in West Hollywood!
Since we're only there for 3 months, we don't want to worry about
bringing or buying furniture,
so we've settled on FORT theme!!!

day at the zoo

Yesterday was a perfect day.
My friend Chanel was in town from LA,
so we all decided to go to the zoo!
We saw all the adorable animals & even got up close and personal
with my favorite animal--the giraffe.
We finished the day off with Chipotle,
and even though I got called in to work that night,
it was an incredible day.
Chanel & me with our favorite donkey friend, Pedro
Chanel & Brooke at the petting zoo
What are your favorite animals??
