sending you kisses on your way

I am so proud of my sister Brooke.
I don't want to spoil the surprise, but hop on over to her blog
because I'm sure she'll be sharing her good news with the blog world soon :)
And even if it takes awhile, follow her blog anyways.
It's one of my faves...even if I am a little biased :)
I love you Brookie.
I took this picture last night, which is really strange
because it's almost like I'm blowing you kisses and sending you away on your journey :)
So...here's to the good times that we'll have this summer
& the fabulous times we'll have to share over Skype.
xoxo

just be happy that you're free

I was reading old copies of the Wall Street Journal today
and I came across an article that really stood out to me
&& made me extremely thankful to be born in a free country.
A couple of days before Valentine's Day,
the WSJ reported that the Iranian regime had banned Valentine's day.
Not only did they ban hearts and red roses,
but I guess they've always been against
unauthorized mingling of the sexes, rock n roll music,
bright colored nail polish, and foreign cuisine.
This is CRAZY to me.
I love that our country allows and even encourages foreign cuisine,
bright colored nails and fashion, and above all of that...
even just love and romance.
With 70% of Iran's population being under the age of 30,
I cannot imagine their frustration and urge to rebel.

So take some time today to be thankful for being born
in whatever country you're from.
Whatever disagreements you may have with the government,
let that go
&
just be happy that you're free to be an individual.

blue skies prevail

I took this picture while I was driving home from work.
Isn't the sky absolutely beautiful??
The picture without my iPhone's Instagram filter is even more breath-taking.
It was raining all morning,
and then once the rain stopped, the gorgeous clouds came out to play :)

good morning

I absolutely love sleeping in & I love my bed.
There's something I find so beautiful about waking up in the morning,
especially when you wake up next to that special someone.
The sunlight is so new and fresh (even if you're waking up at noon),
and the loveliness of the day has just begun.
I haven't gotten a chance to sleep in and enjoy the morning this weekend...
too many commitments have forced me to wake up to the dreaded alarm.
The past three mornings, I've had my alarm wake me up to these songs:
Angel -- Akon
If I Die Young -- The Band Perry
The Scientist -- Coldplay
All three led my day to fabulousness,
so I highly recommend waking up to these :)

cloudy weekend

This weekend is going to be one of those cloudy weekends
since Arizona decided to take a break from 75 & sunny.
Two of my best friends, Brookie & Olivia,
are probably landing in California right about now.
I took them to the airport this morning.
Why couldn't I go??
I have to be responsible this weekend.
I have too much on my plate with projects, my internship,
and work.
So...this is what my weekend is looking like so far!
To top it all off...everyone has been getting sick!!
My throat's kinda scratchy today, but I'm praying for it to just be allergies.
Just in case, I've been taking one Emergen-C (pictured above)
every morning and every night.
I take it at the first sign of a cold & it's worked for me every time!

If you're reading this...have fun in California, little senseis!
&& tell everyone in the valley hello from me :)

bradley darling

I've never been a huge fan of Brad Pitt.
Everyone always used him as the epitome of a beautiful man,
but I just didn't see it.
UNTIL...
Brooke and I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Something about that movie brought a love of Brad Pitt
to two non-believers.
It's safe to say that I officially have another celeb crush
about a decade later than everyone else.
:)
Last night I watched Troy, which had him playing Achilles.
I actually really liked the movie,
and I thought the love between Hector and his wife was so beautiful.
how could I not have loved a face like this??

out there wondering

In light of the fact that Valentine's Day is tomorrow,
I figured I would do my own little version
of a pre-Valentine's post.

To all those who haven't found their lovey dovey this year,
please just remember:

sunday funday

Super Bowl Sunday started out as a let down
because, for the 3rd year in a row,
I had to work.
So...Brooke and I worked from 9:30 to 4:30
and then rushed to our friends' Super Bowl Party.
It was so much fun & I wish I had picture of that right now,
but they're on Heather's camera :)

Once the game was over,
Joey & Drew wanted us to come visit them since
NO ONE was at our workplace.
They gave us an amazing, fancy-shmancy table set-up,
we had salads, they bought our pizza cookie :),
and I laughed harder than I have in awhile.
Olivia, Kylie, Joey, Me, Brookie, & Drew
So, even though we were bummed about working that morning,
our Sunday really did turn into a Sunday Funday.

watch your thoughts, they become words

"Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny."
-unknown

That quote was up on the board at the end of my
legal and ethical studies class.
I couldn't help but jot it down...I know I've heard it before,
but I want to start living my life in its wake.
:)
On another note...
Brookie, my beloved sister,
is approaching her due date for her study abroad session
in ITALY!!!
I thought this looked like her.
All dolled up in Italy
on the back of her new Italian boy toy's moped
<3
I'm already looking forward to visiting!!
